Volunteer
Grassroots Animal Rescue is entirely volunteer run. Our folks are mighty and dedicated. We also pride ourselves on treating one another with kindness, and emphasizing high-quality and responsible rescue practices. We are always in need of new faces to join our family!

Below, are some volunteer roles where we specifically need assistance. Some require in person efforts, others can be accomplished remote.

Requirements to become a Volunteer:

Attend one Volunteer Orientation

Sign and agree to our Volunteer Code of Conduct

Attend at least one adoption event in-person.
Volunteer Opportunities
CAT & KITTEN OPERATIONS
-
Adoption Events - Work with Event & Volunteer Coordinator to run adoption events monitor cats well being and safety during events: engage with public about GAR.

Transport - Transport cats, supplies, and/or donations. Examples include taking cats to/from medical visits, picking-up donations, or helping with special event transport. Travel is in the Chicago area.

Spay & Neuter Coordinator - Coordinate spay & neuter surgeries with GAR vet partners. Arrange transportation, complete, and file paperwork accordingly.
FUNDRAISING & DEVELOPMENT

Donor Relations - Cultivate and expand relationships with donors. Manage donor information and maintain donor database.

Grant Writer - Propose and submit grants.
ADMINISTRATION

Inventory - Maintain inventory database of supplies Assist foster parents with obtaining supplies from GAR inventory. Request and coordinate pick up or drop off of items.

Medical Records Management - Maintain medical records on GAR shared drive.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Graphic Designer - Create design solutions that have high visual impact for web and/or print (ads, posters, newsletters, website graphics etc.)

Pet Profile Writer - Write colorful descriptions of our adoptable cats/kittens for Petfinder, website, and social media platforms to introduce cats to the public

Photographer - Photograph our adoptable cats, and document events, and participate in marketing campaigns.

Flyer Distribution - Coordinate strategic posting of flyers throughout the Chicagoland area for upcoming events.
